Along with Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach is part of the famous “Beach Cities” of California. Of these three communities, Manhattan Beach is arguably the most exclusive, featuring the most luxurious homes, less crowded beaches, and upscale shopping and dining.
Manhattan Beach is known as the birthplace of beach volleyball and a hotspot for surfing. Each year, the city hosts numerous events featuring these sports, including the Manhattan Beach Open and the International Surf Festival.
Outside of these big events, the beaches in the city are more laidback compared to Santa Monica, Venice, and other nearby beach destinations. These are predominantly single-family homes, with a few townhomes mixed in. They feature distinctive contemporary architecture, with large glass windows and wall panels that let in gorgeous views of the ocean.
A historic beach town, Manhattan Beach also features homes built in the 1930s and later, offering not only modern-day conveniences but also their own vintage charm. Relatively more affordable homes are found further from the beach, but still providing easy access to the water and the finest finishes and amenities.
